Red Oak Elementary School Placed on Lockdown After Ammunition Found in Toilet

Authorities placed an Ellis County elementary school on lockdown Tuesday morning after discarded pistol ammunition was found in one of its toilets. Red Oak police said they were notified just after 8 a.m. that the ammo had been found in a bathroom at Life School Red Oak in the 700 block of South Interstate 35E.The school was put on lockdown and students and staff were told to shelter in their classrooms while authorities searched the campus.Lt. Mark Schroeder, a police spokesman, said officers had checked half of the premises by 11:30 a.m. and found no additional contraband.
