Protests, Unity Event at Texas A&M Aim to Drown Out Speech by Alt-right Dallas Native Richard Spencer

COLLEGE STATION -- Thousands are expected at Texas A&M's Kyle Field on Tuesday night to show their opposition to Dallas native Richard Spencer, who's scheduled to speak to his "alt-right" supporters across the street.Spencer, 38, is the new face of the alt-right, the radical conservative movement defined by white nationalism and a fervent resistance to multiculturalism and globalism.He's speaking at the school in the face of numerous protests, both fierce and stoic, as well as a counter-event at the stadium, organized by the university to draw attention away from his presence on campus.The speech is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., while the unity event at Kyle Field was scheduled for 6 p.m.But demonstrations began long before that, and Spencer was greeted on campus by protesters outside the speech venue.  Continue reading...
