Pope Names Bishop of Juneau, Alaska as New Bishop of Dallas Catholic Diocese

Pope Francis named Juneau 's Bishop Edward J. Burns as bishop of the of Dallas Catholic Diocese. The 59-year-old has served in Alaska since 2009 and previously worked on the national level as executive director of the Secretariat for Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. since 1999, according to a Dallas Diocese news release issued Tuesday.
