Police Say Texas Man, 60, Shot Auto Shop Owner After Vehicle Failed State Inspection

A 60-year-old El Paso man is accused of shooting an auto shop owner after his vehicle failed a state inspection.Arturo Garcia Medina was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, the El Paso Times reported.Police say Garcia took his vehicle to Route 66 Auto just after 5 p.m. Monday, but got into an argument with the shop owner, Jorge Rivera, when it failed the inspection.Garcia allegedly shot Rivera in the abdomen during the squabble.Rivera, 52, was hospitalized in critical condition, while a second shop employee suffered minor injury when he was grazed by a bullet.Garcia surrendered to officers at his home and booked in El Paso County Jail on $1.5 million bond.  Continue reading...
