Police Looking for Murder Suspect After His Mom Says He Was Gunman in Red Bird Shooting

Dallas police are looking for a 20-year-old man they say shot another man to death last week at an apartment complex in the Red Bird area.Authorities obtained a murder warrant Saturday for Travon Davis after his mother said that he was the man who fatally shot Gaylon Taylor two days earlier.Police found Taylor, 20, around 5 p.m. Thursday at the Mandalay Palms Apartments in the 3100 block of Cliff Creek Crossing Drive, in a courtyard near Building 14. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.According to Davis' arrest-warrant affidavit, Taylor had gone to the apartments to fight Davis over money Davis owed him. During the fight, Davis pulled out a handgun and shot Taylor in the chest, then ran off, the affidavit says.Davis' mother and brother both witnessed the shooting, police said, but his brother "provided misleading and false statements" and his mother initially "did not provide any useful information" to detectives.The mother later contacted police and said that she had seen Davis shoot Taylor, the affidavit says.
