Police Arrest Man They Say Carjacked and Dragged a Disabled Navy Veteran

Police in Richland Hills have arrested a man they say carjacked a disabled Navy veteran in January.Gary Lynn Smith, 56, was being held Friday at the Tarrant County jail on charges of aggravated robbery and evading arrest. His bail was set at $76,000.Allan Huddleston, 69, was at a gas station in the 7300 block of Airport Freeway the morning of Jan. 15 when a man approached him and asked for money.But the man then attacked Huddleston in an attempt to steal his pickup. The vet, who served in Vietnam, fought back but his assailant grabbed his wallet and keys and jumped into the vehicle.Huddleston tried to grab the carjacker and pull him out of the pickup, but the man was able to drive off. Huddleston was dragged 15 to 20 feet and suffered a broken leg."I thought I could get a hold of this rascal, and I tried to," Huddleston told KXAS-TV (NBC5).Authorities later found Huddleston's pickup in another city and returned it to him.  Continue reading...
