Police Arrest Man Accused of Shooting 31-year-old During Argument in West Oak Cliff

A man identified by Dallas police as the shooter who killed 31-year-old Michael Mires last week has been arrested.Gary Lenard Shaw, 38, had been at large since the shooting at the Ridgecrest Apartments on Plum Grove Lane around 3 p.m. on July 22. Police said Tuesday that they had identified him as the gunman.Shaw was booked into the Dallas County jail on a charge of murder around 2 a.m. Monday morning, jail records show. His bail had not yet been set.Shaw and Mires had been arguing when Shaw shot him in the head, police said. First responders took Mires to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he died several hours later.Shaw has been convicted in Dallas County of compelling prostitution, evading arrest, failure to identify a fugitive, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and unlawful concealment of a handgun.  Continue reading...
