Plano Woman's Death a Mystery; Cops Consider ‘all Aspects' to Learn How She Ended Up in Lake Ray Hubbard

PLANO -- All seemed well with Megan Leigh Getrum last week as she strolled through Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in West Plano.She calmly chatted with a relative on her cell phone while walking through the 200-acre park, whose trails she regularly hiked. According to the relative, nothing seemed amiss during their Friday night talk.So that's why authorities are baffled as to how and why her lifeless body was found by a passerby about 7 a.m. Saturday floating nearly 30 miles away in Lake Ray Hubbard. Her vehicle was later found at her apartment complex.The Dallas County Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Getrum, 36, Sunday but says the results - including how she died - are pending.Plano Police spokesman David Tilley said Thursday that his department is conducting a general death investigation until autopsy results are available. Authorities did not even learn Getrum's identity until Wednesday after a family member had filed persons report the day before.There were no obvious signs of trauma on her body and investigators don't know whether her death was accidental, a crime or even self-inflicted.
