One of Little Mexico’s Last Property Owners, Charlie Villasana, Dies at 88

For nearly seven decades, the Villasana Food Store on Harry Hines Boulevard is where Charlie Villasana spent countless hours working.Before developers built what is known today as Victory Park and Uptown, the neighborhood was Little Mexico, where many immigrants first lived in the city. Despite all the changes, Villasana Food Store and Pike Park were constants.Villasana, one of the last Little Mexico property owners, died Tuesday morning after several months of health complications following a car accident.
