On a Chilly Day, the Dallas Festival of Ideas Warms Crowd With Plenty of Ideas — and Some Laughs Along Way

For the fourth consecutive year, the Dallas Festival of Ideas convened Saturday to examine the question: "What does an informed, just and fully functioning city look like?" Well, for one, it looked warm. Ideas were as omnipresent as wool coats on a surprisingly cold day.Unfolding before a near-capacity crowd at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in downtown Dallas, the festival lured to its lectern luminaries from the East and West coasts.They examined the physical city, the educated city, the healthy city and the inclusive city, in pursuit of the festival mission of helping "shape the city of the future by igniting, uniting and energizing the people of Dallas through the power of ideas."One speaker, Wajahat Ali, wasn't just funny.
