Old Dallas School Will Get New Life as Urban Rental Community

The classrooms at Davy Crockett School have been empty since the 1980s.But starting in a few months, the lofty rooms in the East Dallas landmark will be home to dozens of new residents.The 114-year-old brick schoolhouse — one of the oldest in Dallas — is being remodeled into 52 small apartments with rents starting at about $1,000 a month for the smallest unit.
