Tarrant County authorities are investigating a Mansfield police officer who fatally shot a family's Great Dane while off duty Sunday.The officer, who hasn't been named, told officials that he was walking his dog in the 4200 block of Iron Lane when the Great Dane "came at him aggressively," KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.The owner of the Great Dane disputed that account on Facebook.Carol Evans described her dog Cezar as a "sweet gentle giant." She said the officer lives in the neighborhood and was walking his pit bull when Cezar walked up to them and the dogs started barking."I was inches away fixing to grab cezar when he pulled a gun out and fired," Evans wrote.Cezar yelped. At first, Evans said, she thought the officer had fired away from the dogs to get them to stop barking, but then she noticed Cezar was bleeding.Evans recalled crying and dragging Cezar out from under a table to get him to the vet."Our precious giant suffered and died on the way to the hospital," she wrote.
