Off-duty DART Officer Assaulted Man, Rammed His Car During Pool Fight, Police Say

A Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer is on administrative leave after he was arrested Thursday on allegations he assaulted a man and rammed his car during a pool fight in Lancaster.Officer Elbert Corker, 50, faces charges of assault causing bodily injury and aggravated assault by a public servant, Lancaster police said in a news release.Police were sent to the apartment pool in the 1600 block of North Bluegrove Road about 3:45 p.m. Thursday to break up the fight and respond to a report of a crash. A man told officers that Corker assaulted him during a fight at the pool. Corker, who's worked for DART police for nearly five years, was not in uniform.The man said he and four other people were driving away when Corker pursued them in his personal car, police said. Corker then rammed the man's car, causing it to crash, police said.Multiple witnesses corroborated the man's account, police said.The case will be sent to the Dallas County district attorney's office.Corker remained in the Tri-City jail in DeSoto Friday morning.
