Off-duty Dallas Police Officer Wounds Shooting Suspect Near Lake Highlands Area

An off-duty Dallas police officer wounded a shooting suspect Friday afternoon near the Lake Highlands area, police say. About 4:30 p.m., the uniformed officer drove up on a disturbance at East Northwest Highway and East Lake Highlands Drive. According to preliminary information, the officer saw one man shoot another person, police Maj. Jesse Reyes said. The officer, who was in a marked squad car and had been working a neighborhood patrol job, chased the shooter and fired at them, eventually ending up behind the CVS Pharmacy, Reyes said. The officer was uninjured. The shooting victim and the suspect shooter were both transported to local hospitals in stable condition. Police have not released the names of anyone involved and are investigating what led to the original disturbance.   Continue reading...
