Odds Are Against Beto O'Rourke's Bet This Fall, But the Safe Money Isn't With Ted Cruz's Strategy Either

It helps that the political season offers what many journalists call a "target-rich environment," meaning that the hurly-burly of campaigns offers plenty of compelling storylines.At our best, we use those storylines to illuminate key details that voters want to know as they decide whom to support.Rare is it that a political contest offers the kind of sharp contrasts we can see in the U.S. Senate race here in Texas, where incumbent Ted Cruz, a Republican, will now square off against Democrat Beto O'Rourke, who is giving up his seat in Congress for a chance at the upper chamber.The two men differ on policy, of course.
