Now There Are 11 States in the Hunt for New Toyota-Mazda Plant and Its 4,000 Jobs

At least eleven states are in talks to land a new $1.6 billion manufacturing plant that Toyota and Mazda want to build jointly in the U.S., reports the Wall Street Journal.Besides Texas -- Toyota’s new North America headquarters, other states on the companies' shortlist are Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina, WSJ reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the potential investment. Those sources also said the manufacturing facility would require at least 1,000 acres of land. The new plant, announced late last week, is expected to create at least 4,000 jobs. President Donald Trump, who has been pushing an "America First" policy aimed at getting large manufacturers to create jobs in the U.S., touted the announcement move as a success.  Continue reading...
