North Richland Hills Man Arrested in Wife's Slaying

A North Richland Hills man was charged with murder Monday in connection with his wife's death.Victor Lawrence Baxter, 58, was arrested on unrelated charges after his wife, 40-year-old Mary Baxter, died in their home in the 7700 block of Amy Lane, near Starnes Road and Smithfield Road.A 911 call was made from within the home just before 1 a.m., police spokeswoman Carissa Katekaru said, and Baxter died shortly after 1:30 a.m.Police arrested Victor Baxter later Monday on unrelated charges, but investigators determined he was a suspect in his wife's death.The Tarrant County medical examiner has not yet listed a cause of death, but told police the manner of death was unnatural, Katekaru said.Victor Baxter remained in the Tarrant County jail Thursday afternoon.
