News' Reporters Win Investigative Journalism Prize, First Amendment Award for ‘Pain & Profit' Series

J. David McSwane and Andrew Chavez of The Dallas Morning News have been recognized with the 2019 Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting for their series "Pain & Profit."The honor, which includes a $25,000 prize, was announced Tuesday at Harvard Kennedy School's JFK Jr. Forum in Boston.McSwane and Chavez's work revealed systemic failures and inept oversight among private health care companies that deny or delay care for thousands of fragile Texans.The prize is awarded for investigative reporting that best promotes the effective and ethical conduct of the government, the making of public policy or the practice of politics, according to the Kennedy School's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy.   Continue reading...
