New Staubach Capital Investment Firm on the Prowl for Property Deals

A start up Dallas property investment firm has a familiar name.Staubach Capital plans to make plays in a variety of real estate projects in North Texas and beyond.The new company has teamed up with top local apartment builder Columbus Realty to do its first development in Frisco and will work together on other multifamily housing deals."We have been evaluating and looking at a handful of different projects," said founding partner Jeff Staubach, who late last year left his executive position at commercial property firm JLL to found the new company with partners Scott Wilson and Marc Goldman."The primary focus right now is multifamily," Staubach said. "We will continue to work with Robert Shaw and Columbus Realty on opportunities."Staubach Capital is an equity investor in the new 17-story Star House apartment high-rise Columbus Realty and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones are building at the team's new Star development in Frisco."We raised a little more than half of the equity on the Columbus side of the transaction," Staubach said. "We also have a few mixed-use deals we are looking at right now."And not a bunch of office, but potentially some medical buildings."Staubach - whose father Roger for decades has partnered with Shaw and his Columbus Realty building apartments - said the firm will invest both family money and equity from outside investors."We have some great relationships here locally and out of state," he said. "The goal for us in the next 24 months we'd like to do $150 million to $200 million in total equity placement."Along with the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Staubach Capital is looking at opportunities in Austin and other nearby markets."We don't want to buy something we just don't absolutely love," Staubach said.Staubach was president of JLL's south central regional office when he left late last year to set up the new firm. He'd been a top exec with JLL since 2008.He joined the firm when Dallas' Staubach Co. - founded by Roger Staubach - merged with international firm JLL.Staubach Capital's Scott Wilson is also managing principal with SRP Medical, which was also once part of the old Staubach Co.Marc Goldman also is a longtime partner in SRP Medical and former Staubach Co. executive.  Continue reading...
