New Baylor Football Player Accused of Domestic Violence, Suspended From Team Activities

A Baylor University football player had a protective order issued against him Tuesday after a woman complained that he had become jealous and violent, at one point breaking her finger and another time slamming her against a car, according to KWTX-TV in Waco. Standout nickelback Travon Blanchard was ordered not to communicate with the woman and to stay away from where she lives in a protective order signed by a McLennan County judge Tuesday, the station reported. Protective orders are issued if a judge finds that domestic violence occurred and is likely to occur again in the future. While the order is a civil matter, violating it is a crime. Blanchard, who will be a senior next season, has been suspended from all team activities. He is the latest Baylor player to be accused of physical or sexual violence, as the fallout from the university's ongoing sexual assault scandal continues.   Continue reading...
