NBC5 Forecast: Very Warm Now, But Cooler by the Weekend

Gusty southwest winds drove temperatures into the mid to upper 70s on Valentine's Day. The combination of the wind with low humidity and warm air led to an elevated risk for grass fire danger through the afternoon. But the wind will drop off quickly by evening.Friday will be the last warm day of the week. There is a bit of uncertainty as to how quickly the colder air will move south. A cold front will cross the Red River by Friday afternoon. North of the front will be colder with highs near 50 degrees. South of the front will be a lot warmer with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The weekend will be cooler, but not terribly cold.Increasing rain chances and below normal temperatures are expected early next week, with the best chance for rain being on Tuesday.TONIGHT: Partly cloudy.
