NBC5 Forecast: Rain Chances on the Increase to Start the Week

From NBC5 meteorologist Brian James - Clouds will be with us as a partly to mostly cloudy sky continues across the area tonight. Rain chances return Monday in the form of scattered rain showers ... especially in the afternoon. The better chance for rain will be Tuesday as a potent and fast-moving storm system zips through the region. Rain and scattered thunderstorms will develop and spread across North Texas. A few of the storms could be on the strong side with gusty winds and some hail. The two best days of the week will be Wednesday and Thursday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. A strong cold front will bring sharply colder air to the region beginning Thursday night and through the day Friday. The computer models have come into better agreement concerning the potential for wintry precipitation in the days leading up to Christmas. It now appears that it the main storm system will stay north of us and will not bring us any rain, ice, or snow. We will get a second surge of colder air Sunday night as another cold front sweeps through North Texas. Right behind the front on Christmas Day, there is a slight chance for a few rain and snow showers. Outside of that, the rest of Christmas Day is shaping up to be a mostly cloudy day with morning temperatures in the upper 20s and afternoon readings in the upper 30s.Latest Video Forecast  Continue reading...
