NBC5 Forecast: More Heat & Storms Possible Today

More heat and possible storms today. A Heat Advisory has been extended until 6 p.m. this evening. Highs will stay in the upper 90s to near 100, but it will feel even hotter. The Heat Index will exceed 105 again today. Be sure to stay hydrated. North Texas saw a few isolated showers pop up Friday afternoon and evening. A complex of storms is expected to develop later this afternoon and move east across the region with additional showers and storms. Lightning will be the primary threat. Heavy rain, gusty winds and some hail may accompany some of the stronger storms. The storms will be more numerous north of DFW, towards the Red River, with a lesser chance south of DFW. Greatest potential for flooding may occur in our NE counties where the highest rainfall totals are expected.Another chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms arrives Sunday into Monday, but it's still no guarantee that everyone will see rain.
