After a chilly, but dry Christmas, clouds and areas of light drizzle returned on a gloomy Tuesday. In areas west of Fort Worth, there may be some patchy freezing drizzle overnight. But if that occurs, it will most likely be on tree limbs, stop signs and windshields. Roads are not expected to be affected by ice.Drier air will slowly work into the region from the north overnight. It will be rain-free, but still cloudy and cold Wednesday and Thursday. There's a slight warm-up in store for Friday into Saturday with highs near 50.Then, a strong arctic front will push through the region Sunday with much colder air. There will be another low chance for some wintry precipitation on New Year's Eve. At this point, it is much too early to say for sure, but keep close tabs on our forecast if you plan to be on the road on New Year's Eve.2018 will likely start on a cold note, with the lowest temperatures so far this winter.
