NBC 5 Forecast: Heat Advisory Through Early Sunday Evening

From NBC 5 meteorologist Brian James ...A Heat Advisory is in effect through 7 p.m. SundayThe average high this time of year is 97 degrees, but we will be at 100 or above through early next week. It is humid, so that will lead to heat index values over 105 degrees each afternoon. If you're going to be outside during the peak heating hours (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), please make sure you're taking breaks and drinking lots of water. Remember to take care of your pets and provide them plenty of fresh water. Some relief from the heat is on the way in the week ahead. There will be a chance for some isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms by Wednesday and Thursday of next week as a weak cold front drops into the area. At this time, it appears that the best chance for rain will be mostly from the Red River counties northward into Oklahoma. But a few showers may make their way into DFW, and that will drop temperatures a few degrees. TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm. Low: 80. Wind: SE/S 5-10 mph. SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and hot. High: 102.
