NBC 5 Forecast: Heat Advisory This Weekend

A Heat Advisory is in effect through 7 PM Sunday. The average high this time of year is 97 degrees, but we will be at 100 or above through early next week. It is humid, so that will lead to heat index values over 105 degrees each afternoon. If you're going to be outside during the peak heating hours (10 AM to 6 PM), please make sure you're taking breaks and drinking lots of water. Remember to take care of your pets and provide them plenty of fresh water. There will be a chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. At this time, it appears that the best chance for rain will be mostly from the Red River counties northward into Oklahoma. But a few showers may make their way into DFW, and that will drop temperatures a few degrees.Latest Forecast TODAY: Sunny and hot. High: 101. Wind: S 10 mph. TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm. Low: 82.
