Naked Sex Offender High on K2 Tried to Rape Woman Outside Dallas City Hall, Police Say

A naked sex offender attacked a woman outside Dallas City Hall on Friday afternoon, then told officers he was high after smoking K2 for the first time, police say. Jomonathan Watts, 32, remained in custody Wednesday at the Dallas County jail on a felony charge of attempted sexual assault and misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure, unlawful restraint and assault causing bodily injury. His bail is set at $18,000.Officers were called just before 5 p.m. Friday to 1500 Marilla St., where security guards had detained Watts after he reportedly pushed a woman into a flowerbed, then held her down while he masturbated.When police arrived, Watts was naked and told them he had just smoked K2, a synthetic marijuana product, for the first time, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.The victim told police she had been sitting on the edge of the flowerbeds outside City Hall when she looked up to see Watts running toward her with a "crazy look in his eyes," the affidavit says.She said Watts was silent during the attack, but "he stared her in the eyes." She kicked him in an attempt to fend him off, she said, but he overpowered her.A witness pushed Watts off the woman, stopping the assault, the affidavit says. The victim told officers she believed Watts intended to rape her.Watts is a registered sex offender with multiple indecent-exposure convictions and is designated a high-level risk, according to state records. He pleaded guilty days after he was arrested in 2008 on an indecent-exposure charge in Dallas County, court records show, and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.  Continue reading...
