Murder Trial Begins for Ex-cop Who Chased Down, Shot Teens Who Broke Into His SUV

A former Farmers Branch police officer goes on trial Monday, facing a murder charge in the death of a teenage burglar he chased down and shot while off duty.Ken Johnson killed 16-year-old Jose Cruz and wounded his friend after pursuing them into Addison in March of last year. Off duty and out of uniform, Johnson caught the teens breaking into his SUV. Cruz's friend Edgar Rodriguez, who was also 16 at the time, later acknowledged that he and Cruz were trying to steal seats from the SUV.  Continue reading...
