Most-wanted Sex Offender Who Fled Dallas in 2017 Is Arrested in Kansas

A wanted sex offender who fled from a Dallas halfway house has been arrested after more than a year and a half on the run.U.S. marshals took Bill Don Urango, 27, into custody in Wichita, Kan., last week.Urango was convicted in 2010 of aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact and indecency with a child by exposure related to an incident involving an 11-year-old boy in Grayson County.He served about six years of a 10-year prison sentence before being released on parole.In June 2017, he left the halfway house where he was living. In 2018, he was added to the state's 10 Most Wanted sex offenders list.Urango was arrested Tuesday on a parole-violation warrant as well as a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Authorities said the arrest resulted from a tip received through Crime Stoppers."Fugitives fleeing from justice cannot hide from the U.S. Marshals Service and its state and local law enforcement partners across the country," Richard Taylor, U.S. marshal for the Northern District of Texas, said in a statement.
