More than 150 horses living in squalid conditions were removed from a 45-acre property in East Texas Thursday morning.The animals appeared to be malnourished and lacked access to veterinary care, a spokesman for the Humane Society of the United States said.A warrant was issued on the property in Camp County, which lies about 127 miles east of Dallas and 40 miles north of Longview. Deputies with the Camp County Sheriff's Department began removing the animals around 7:30 a.m."Our concern is getting these animals to a safe location where a veterinarian can assess them and get them the care they need," Camp County Sheriff Alan McCandless said.Deputies received help from the Humane Society and Safe Haven Equine Rescue and Retirement Home in an operation that lasted several hours.
