More Texas Latinos Voted in 2018, But So Did Everyone Else, Census Data Shows

Beto O’Rourke’s failed Senate bid against Ted Cruz was the almost-victory heard 'round the country.The 2018 midterms, paired with a surge of Latino voters in some counties and a revelation that suburbs might be turning blue, left everyone wondering, “Is Texas now a battleground state?”Data released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that the Latino sleeping giant may have budged -- about 830,000 more Texas Latinos voted in 2018 than 2014.But the same data shows that voter participation was also up among white, black and Asian voters.
