Michael Bloomberg-funded Coal Documentary Puts Spotlight on Dallas Residents

Although Dallas isn't coal country, some of its residents have become part of the national debate over the now politically-charged energy source.The documentary From the Ashes premiered this year at the Tribeca Film Festival and now hits the National Geographic Channel at 8 p.m. Sunday night. The film features several Dallas area residents, including a doctor, asthma sufferers and former Dallas Morning News environmental writer Randy Loftis, talking about the effects of pollution from coal-burning plants.Reversing the decline of the coal industry was one of President Donald Trump's many signature issues during the 2016 campaign.
