The former governor of a north Mexican state fled to El Paso amidst allegations of corruption, the current governor said Tuesday. Ex- Chihuahua Gov. Cesar Duarte is considered "a fugitive from justice," Gov. Javier Corral said at a press conference in Chihuahua City, The El Paso Times reports.Officials are expected to seek an international arrest and extradition order for Duarte, who Corral reportedly said headed a "network of political corruption" for personal gain. "He who steals from the government does not just steal a few cents or some millions," Corral said. "He steals opportunities, steals hope, steals the rights of people who aspire to a better life."
