Mexican Ex-cop Gets Life for Stalking Cartel Lawyer Who Was Assassinated by Hit Men in Southlake

FORT WORTH -- The daylight murder of a lawyer in an upscale Southlake shopping center by masked hit men in 2013 shocked and rattled the community.On Tuesday, the last of the three men who took part in the murder plot was sentenced. Jesús Gerardo Ledezma Cepeda, 60, a former police officer and private investigator from Mexico, was given two life terms in prison for masterminding the effort to locate and then track Juan Jesús Guerrero Chapa.Guerrero Chapa, an influential lawyer for the Gulf cartel and a U.S. informant, was shot and killed at Southlake Town Square in May 2013.
