Mesquite Man Charged With Capital Murder in Death of 2-year-old Girl

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 2-year-old girl Sunday in Mesquite, police say. Someone called 911 about 8:30 a.m. to report that a child who lived at a home in the 1100 block of Wildflower Lane was unresponsive. Police said evidence discovered during the investigation led them to arrest Toron Eugene Williams, 30, in the child's death. He has been charged with capital murder. It is not clear how Williams is connected to the girl and police did not release any details about her cause of death. The child's mother is not suspected in her daughter's death, police said.
