Mesquite's City Council won't be able to vote on a forced annexation of some 5.7 square miles before a new state law goes into effect Friday after a Dallas County district court extended a temporary restraining order. The move prolongs a bitter battle between the city and landowners fighting to protect their land from annexation. "We're not over. The only thing I can say is today's a good day," attorney Tracy Gray said as landowners clapped, hugged and thanked her outside the courtroom.
