Meet the Dallas Millennial Who Started His Own Wine Label by Age 30

Michael Hill Kennedy has a love of wine and a thirst for knowledge, adventure and experience. He also has good taste and a trained palate.When the 30-year-old sommelier visited a Napa Valley winemaker years ago, he was able to taste petit verdot, a grape so bold that it's typically only used as a blending component in classic reds and rarely found as a single-varietal wine. Kennedy thought more people should have this experience, and the idea for his own wine label was born. Component Wine Company, which Kennedy launched in 2016 with his wife Rachel, is considered a boutique negociant, a French term for a wine merchant who assembles the produce of other growers and winemakers and sells the finished wine under its own name.
