McKinney Man Who Did ‘bad Things' to Girl Over Many Years Sentenced to 45 Years Without Possibility of Parole

A McKinney man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison without the possibility of parole after abusing a girl for years beginning when she was six years old.Hilario Santiago, 46, was convicted by a jury of continuous sexual abuse of a child and sentenced last week by Judge Richard Davis. According to testimony, Santiago was a roommate in the child's home and sexually abused her for many years. Prosecutors say that after each incident of abuse, he threatened to kill the child's loved ones if she told anyone what he did. At one point she told her parents he tried to touch her, and her parents kicked Santiago out of the home. More than a year later, the girl told relatives Santiago had done "bad things" to her. Her parents called police. The girl offered details about the abuse during a forensic interview. Santiago was initially arrested in July 2016.
