McKinney ISD Breaks Ground on $69.9 Million High School Stadium and Event Center

It's a mud pit right now. But in a little more than a year, McKinney ISD's $69.9 million stadium and event center -- one of the country's most expensive high school football facilities -- will tower northwest of Central Expressway and State Highway 121 just a few miles from Allen's mammoth Eagle Stadium. "It's a great day for McKinney," Superintendent Rick McDaniel said Tuesday at the site's official groundbreaking. School and city officials donned construction hats and on the count of three ceremoniously tossed shovelfuls of dirt on the site as students from the district's three high schools stood behind.
