‘Mass Layoff' Hits Huawei's Plano-based Research Arm Futurewei Amid Trade Crackdown

Futurewei, the research arm of Huawei, laid off dozens of workers at its Plano facility this week amidst the Trump administration's crackdown on the Chinese telecom giant.The layoffs at Futurewei's headquarters in Plano were described as part of a "mass layoff." The job eliminations at the Plano headquarters will include 38 workers and will begin Sept. 23, according to a notice provided to the Texas Workforce Commission.Overall, the layoffs represent more than two-thirds of the research subsidiary's U.S. workforce, amounting to the elimination of more than 600 jobs, Reuters first reported Monday.  Continue reading...
