Man Slashed Girlfriend, Threatened to Shoot Up Her House, Lubbock Police Say

A grand jury indicted a Lubbock man Tuesday who police say slashed his girlfriend and threatened her on Facebook.Samuel Torrez, 34, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury and a felon in possession of a firearm, The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.Officers responded to an emergency room where he dropped the woman off after the incident May 18, according to a warrant obtained by the Lubbock paper.The woman eventually told police that Torrez went to her house to ask her for a ride to visit his daughter. As they were getting ready to go, she said Torrez got angry and violent, accusing her of being unfaithful.When they got into her vehicle, Torrez swung a pocket knife at her as she drove, the warrant states.She blocked it from slicing her face, but it struck her hand, leaving a three to four inch wound.On May 21, the woman contacted police to say that Torrez called her on Facebook, sent her a photo of him holding a gun and later called her to threaten to shoot up her house.Torrez was arrested May 30.  Continue reading...
