Man Shot, Killed Near the State Fair of Texas

A man was fatally shot Wednesday night about half a mile from the State Fair of Texas in South Dallas, police said. Officers were called about 7:30 p.m. to the 4500 block of Metropolitan Avenue, near South Fitzhugh Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police spokeswoman Tamika Dameron said. No description was available for the alleged shooter, who remains at large. Dameron said police do not believe the shooting poses any threat to fair-goers.
