Man Shot After Confronting 2 Who Were Robbing Garland Homeowner

A man was shot Dec. 22 when he confronted two people who had robbed a homeowner as he unloaded groceries, Garland police said. Two men approached the homeowner about 10:30 p.m. after he had parked behind his house in the 1900 block of Hearthside Lane, police Lt. Pedro Barineau said. The man was thrown to the ground, and his two cellphones and money were taken. The two men were rifling through his vehicle when the man's cousin came outside and confronted the suspects, Barineau said. One of the suspects reportedly shot the cousin and fled. They are still at large. The victim was transported to an area hospital and underwent surgery for the gunshot wounds, Barineau said.
