Man Rescued From Under DART Rail Car at East Oak Cliff Station

A man had to be rescued from under a DART rail car Monday evening in east Oak Cliff, officials say. The man became trapped shortly before 6 p.m. at the Dallas Area Rapid Transit's Morrell Station in the 1300 block of Morrell Avenue, near South Corinth Road. Dallas Fire-Rescue's Urban Search and Rescue teams responded and used the Jaws of Life to lift the train car high enough to pull the man out, spokesman Jason Evans said. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a local Methodist Charlton Medical Center with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, DART spokesman Gordon Shattles said. The severity of the injuries to his lower body have not been released, Evans said.It was not clear how the man got stuck. DART police are investigating, Shattles said. The incident impacted Blue Line riders, but trains resumed normal operations within an hour.   Continue reading...
