Man Nearly Beheaded Girlfriend With Samurai Sword, Houston Police Say

A Houston man killed his girlfriend by nearly decapitating her with a samurai sword, authorities say.Police went to a home in northwest Houston on Wednesday evening after a 911 caller reported that a man had attacked his girlfriend. They found Aracely Jernigan, 36, dead in the living room, and a samurai sword nearby.Kenneth Wayne Lockings, 35, turned himself in to police later that day.Lockings' sister and father tried to visit the hoem earlier Wednesday, KTRK-TV reported, but he refused to let them in. Eventually, Lockings' father got into the home and saw Jernigan's body. He then persuaded his son to turn himself in.Police said Lockings swung the sword with enough force that Jernigan was nearly beheaded.Lockings' grandmother, Marie Carrier, lives across the street and told the Houston Chronicle that her grandson had visited earlier in the day for coffee.Though she didn't know what led up to Jernigan's slaying, she told the newspaper that Lockings was "really messed up in the head."  Continue reading...
