Man Lit Himself on Fire Before Jumping Off San Antonio Bridge, Witnesses Say

A man doused himself in lighter fluid and lit himself on fire before jumping off a San Antonio bridge with a rope around his neck Thursday morning, according to San Antonio police.Witnesses saw the man jump off a bridge along Thousand Oaks Drive near Toyota Field and kill himself, reports the San Antonio Express-News. Paramedics responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m."Everything melted," said Detective Richard Richardson with the San Antonio Police Department. "It's gonna be a while before we ID him."Richardson said a receipt for lighter fluid purchased Thursday morning was found in the man's pocket. Two witnesses, Khiari Brown and Michael Ray, told the Express-News that they were driving down Thousand Oaks Drive when they saw a man on fire climb over the bridge's railing. "We seen him on this side, halfway on fire just scootin' down, and then ... you know," Ray said.Ray and Brown then drove down below the bridge where they saw the dead man's body burning on the ground.
