Man Killed on Lemmon Avenue Sidewalk After Being Struck by Speeding SUV

A 68-year-old pedestrian was killed Thursday afternoon near Love Field after being struck by a speeding SUV that drove onto the sidewalk, Dallas police said. The man, whose name was not released, was struck by a Honda Pilot about 4 p.m. in the 4800 block of Lemmon Avenue. While witness accounts varied, police said the SUV driver may have been traveling significantly faster than the speed limit. Police did not release the name of the 28-year-old driver. She was driving east on Lemmon when she struck the southwest curb of the Lemmon Avenue and Kings Road intersection, went onto the sidewalk, struck a fire hydrant and crossed Kings Road. She remained on the sidewalk as she struck a utility pole, struck the victim, and then another pole, police said.The victim was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and was released after being questioned by police. It was unclear whether charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing.   Continue reading...
