Man Held in Sucker-punch Assault on Woman Walking With Her Kids in Fort Worth

A 34-year-old man faces charges of aggravated assault after his arrest for sucker-punching a woman who was with her children Sunday in downtown Fort Worth.David Earl Thomas Jr., of Fort Worth, is in Tarrant County Jail on $50,000 bond in the attack on Jennifer Leedy. He's also being held on $20,000 bond on an aggravated robbery charge from a similar attack earlier this month.In that case, the suspect assaulted a woman and tried to take her phone from her, Fort Worth police spokesman Jimmy Pollozani said.In Sunday's attack, Leedy suffered a broken nose that will require surgery."We were talking. We were laughing. We were having a good time. Beautiful day," Leedy told KTVT-TV (Channel 11). "All of the sudden, he just charged before I even knew what was happening. This person just charged right at me and knocked me down to the ground."The suspect then fled and was eventually pointed out in a police lineup, according to KDFW-TV (Channel 4).  Continue reading...
