Man Gets 20 Years in Prison for Killing Man Outside AT&T Stadium After Dallas Cowboys Game

A 30-year-old Cowboys fan was convicted of murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison for a 2015 shooting in the AT&T Stadium parking lot. Marvin Rodriguez was involved in two fights in the stadium parking lot on Oct. 11, 2015, two hours after a Dallas Cowboys-New England Patriots game ended. Rodriguez pulled a gun on one man during the first fight. The man walked away. Moments later, Rodriguez was involved in a second fight, which 43-year-old Rick Sells tried to break up, police records show. Sells was knocked to the ground, and Rodriguez shot him in the neck while he was trying to stand up. Sells died three days after being taken off life support. Rodriguez tried to drive away after the shooting but was stopped by Arlington police officers working security at the stadium. He was initially arrested on aggravated assault charges.
