Man Driving Stolen Pickup Fatally Shot by Farmers Branch Police Officer in Northwest Dallas

A Farmers Branch police officer shot and killed a suspect at the wheel of a stolen pickup as the vehicle attempted to leave a Dallas shopping center parking spot.Dallas police are investigating the incident, which took place about 7 p.m. in the 11400 block of Emerald Street. Farmers Branch police officers had been monitoring the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Irving and was backed into a parking space at the shopping center. Three occupants were inside the vehicle, police said.As one of the officers began to approach the vehicle, it began to pull out of the space and one of the officers discharged a weapon, striking the driver.The suspect was taken to Parkland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.One of the officers suffered a minor injury during the incident and was treated at a local hospital.
